The need for proper communication

Communication in the verbal or nonverbal form is very important in the work environment.
Verbal communication comprises oral communication and written communication while nonverbal communication comprises the following three elements:
  • Appearance (clothing, hairstyle, neatness, use of cosmetics),
  • Body Language (facial expressions, gestures, postures),
  • Sounds (voice tone, volume, speech rate).
It is important to note that no business can run efficiently without effective communication at ALL levels. The Co-op Ed student must therefore show that he/she is well adept with the art of communication as a means of marketing him/herself.
The video below explores issues relating to both forms of communication.  From the video even what is deemed as proper communication may not be so proper/right!  Please watch and share your views with us.

  1. I must agree that he made some effort to correct how he communicated with her but there is still room for improvement.

    1. Could you be a bit more specific... e.g. in which areas did you see improvement?

  2. In the second video he appeared to be more attentive to what was being said and more responsive whereas before he was not at all interested in what she was saying. However his physical appearance leaves a lot to be desired. The dress shirt and shorts with sneakers was not appropriate as office attire.
